Ev0 will be Bruntwood’s first project to meet the LETI 2020 design targets for ‘upfront carbon’, RIBA’s 2025 targets for whole life carbon and the UKGBC's Paris Proof operational energy use targets. The building is also targeting NABERS 5.5 stars and BREEAM Excellent ratings. We are exercising complete transparency with our development figures - see below for more details.
This is the total carbon generated to produce a built asset, including emissions caused by extraction, manufacturing, transportation and assembly.
This is the amount of carbon emitted during the operational or in-use phase of a building, including daily use, management and maintenance of the structure.
The most unique part of Ev0 is its mass timber frame. In order to reach our goal of creating the UK's lowest carbon workspace, we will use mass timber to capture carbon. This process is called carbon sequestration.
Buildings created with traditional material, like steel or concrete, have a significant carbon impact on the environment. Ev0’s mass timber frame will have a positive effect by capturing carbon from the atmosphere and locking it away - in the same way a tree does.
